A Rare George III Mahogany Bracket Clock By William Webster C1770
Date of manufacture: 18th Century
Current Status: For Sale
a fine English double fusee bracket clock by the famous London Maker William Webster. Dating from around c1770 and housed in an Ellicott style case with circular bezel that hides the strike/silent lever as well as the makers name behind the door, the profusely engraved backplate on this fully overhauled movement is simply stunning. William Webster’s father ( also William ) was apprenticed to the eminent Thomas Tompion and his skills were obviously passed on to his son.
