A Rare cold painted Spelter figurine of a Camel and Egyptian Meharis c1880. This clock was made in the late 19th century. Made out of spelter, it represents an Egyptian meharist riding a camel. A regiment of camels was created by Napoleon Bonaparte during the Campaign of Egypt between 1799 and 1801. The armament consists of a sword and pistol.
I have seen a few of these clock over the past 30 years but as is often the case, the original cold painted finish has either been removed or polished out. To find an original Camel with its original cold painted finish is simply rare. I have not attempted to clean or disturb this 150 year old finish to ensure that it remains in its stunning state of conservation.
The French, bell striking movement has been fully overhauled by us and comes with a full three year guarantee.
Certainly, a feature piece that would make a stunning difference to a collection
