A Georgian Moonphase Longcase Clock by George Goodall of Abberford No426
George goodall is known to have worked in both Micklefield & Abberford 1760 -1790. Clocks made at Micklefield numbered 29 and 81, known clocks made in Abberford numbered 282 and 631
This clock numbering 426 makes it right in the middle of his Abberford career dating this to around c1770.
The well proportioned oak case with mahogany banding to the door and mahogany veneer to the hood is in a most wonderful undamaged condition, we have carefully cleaned the case to remove years of old wax and dust to reveal its lovely patina.
The finely made movement with beautifully made brass spandrels and dial has a most wonderfully painted moon-phase disc featuring a watermill scene on one side along with a naval scene on the other. The finely painted moons have a lovely expression as they traverse across the face. The clock has been fully overhauled by me and comes with a full three year guarantee for your peace of mind
