A full perpetual calendar French mantle clock with Day, Date, Month, hours and minutes along with a moon phase indication in the 7” silvered dial. The 30” solid mahogany case with glazed panel to the front is in the French Empire style and dates this clock to around 1850. The intricately complicated movement displays the current month and day in two apertures and interestingly has a “jump” date hand that has a full perpetual feature including leap year. Driven by the striking mechanism, the calendar advances one day at exactly 12am. Depending upon the month, the mechanism knows how many days to display and shoots ( jumps ) back to 1 on the required day. Once every four years the calendar with automatically add an extra day for February to adjust for the leap year. Quite a rare clock in a most wonderful restored condition ready to grace any home! £4750
