A fabulous early Oak Cased Georgian Longcase Clock by Stringer of Stockport c1750, George Stringer of Stockport descends from a family of local clockmakers and is listed as trading from 1742 -1754. This clock is in a most wonderful condition having that rich oak patina to the case, standing at 194cm high this clock was clearly made for the small cottages of the time and would have been a prized family piece for generations.

The “D” moulding to the inset door is a nod to the earlier designs and these provincial makers certainly did not change quickly to the trends of the day, this included the fine engraving to the matted centre panel and date aperture.

The well made 8 day movement has been fully overhauled in-house and comes with a full three year guarantee for your piece of mind.

A good opportunity to acquire a good provincial “short” cottage clock with bags of character!
