This Bowers of chesterfield longcase clock is probably one of the best mid 19th century provincial 30 hour longcase clocks on the market at this time. This particular clock was my very first clock that I bought some four years ago when I started my new restoration business and it has been sitting patiently in our workshop all this time while we used it as a “house Mouse”.
I have personally restored all of the clock and the movement to as an original new finish as I can, These provincial longcase clocks are often overlooked, mistreated and never restored due to there low intrinsic value compared with fine eight day longcase clocks. However, as you can see from the photographs this clock is simply beautiful in its finished state. The oak case has a wonderful colour and grain and is complemented by perfect boxwood stringing and Mahogany panels. The case maker has even taken the effort of “ebonising” sections of the hood spindles and reeded columns to the trunk.
The painted dial has been sympathetically restored by having the linework re touched and the gilt corners cleaned. The typically robust countwheel striking movement has been totally overhauled and comes with a full three years guarantee for your peace of mind.
This a rare opportunity to purchase a fully restored provincial 30 hour clock that is in an amazing condition.
